Common questions

Answers before you visit

Can an employer use a regular instant test for a DOT position?

No. An instant test is not an authorized DOT drug test. DOT testing must follow the applicable regulated laboratory process.

Can I walk in for a pre-employment drug test?

Most collections accept walk-ins during weekday hours, but you should confirm that Test First has your employer’s order or the correct test information.

What should a job candidate bring?

Bring government-issued photo identification and the employer’s authorization, registration number or testing paperwork.

Can background screening be ordered at the same time?

Yes. Test First offers criminal background packages plus education and employment verification. Employer consent and required personal information must be handled through the authorized process.

How quickly are results available?

Timing depends on the test and laboratory review. Many negative laboratory results are available within 24–48 hours, while confirmation or medical review can take longer.
